This precious gir's story will just break your heart. Sweet Pea was surrendered on a really cold winter day after the ice storm. She had produced 10 puppies 5 weeks prior and she had a prolapsed uterus. This condition is VERY PAINFUL yet she was out in the cold with 10 babies to feed and in great pain herself. Well, 3 of the pups died and the owner surrendered Sweet Pea and the remaining 7 to the county shelter. At that point the humane society stepped in. She needed emergency surgery and she was seperated from her babies. She was spayed and the remaining pups put in foster care. A few days later they became sick and had to be humanely euthanized because she had so much infection in her body that she had bad milk, what little milk she was producing had poisoned the babies. Now Sweet Pea is being fostered by a very loving couple and she is ready to go to her furever family.
